Firestorm Graphics Settings

So I a few people have told me that the "Viewer 2 / Firestorm" experience is different for everyone, which I think it is because not everyone has the same graphics and/or computer hardware.  For those of you who have a graphics card that supports all of the features, here are screenshots of my Preferences settings which enable the features necessary to view shiny, reflective, realistic looking wave surfaces. :)

LSD Surfboard SecondLife Surf Lessons in Pictures

Here they are! Step by step still pictures from the Video explaining how to perform all those funny stunts you see!

LSD Surf Lessons Step by Step

Here's the original video:

First LSD Surfboard SecondLife surfing lesson hack job

So this is my first attempt to show how various surfing maneuvers are performed on the LSD surfboard.  I guess things in the video happen very quickly, so it will probably be next to impossible to keep up with the explanations of the moves without hitting the PAUSE button and without looking at it FULL SCREEN.  So you'll want to watch this in FULL SCREEN mode and then get your mouse ready to hit *PAUSE* a LOT during this video clip so you can read the lesson.   I'll also post still pictures soon from this video so you can more easily read the text. ;)

LSD Surfboards Anniversary coming up!

It has been almost a year since the first LSD surfboard in SecondLife was created. What started as a pet project to compensate for a mis-advertised surfboard design contest is now a thriving surfable wave system and surfboard business. LSD is now on the bleeding edge of surfboard and wave technology as well as product distribution mechanisms in SecondLife. Thank you for all of the supporters and idea contributors without whom LSD would not be possible. The LSD Surfboard represents a year of communication and idea sharing more than anything else and that's what makes LSD unique among surfboard makers - LSD comes as much from the SecondLife surf community as it does from me (Luscious) who makes these funny toys! Hopefully we can have an LSD competition on the anniversary as a celebration of the SecondLife surfing community's contributions to LSD and all of the fun toys that we have created since LSD's inception!

Thanks for your support everyone!

I'm still tempted

To release the surfboard code.... I mean if I just post it here with nobody looking do you think anyone would actually find it?

Colleen & Tsunami Waves

So how do you make a "wave" in SL anyway? Actually it's simple and I have no idea why people charge so much for it... anyway basically you are just creating a wave generator that rezzes a large megaprim surfboard set to go in one direction. And that's it! Oh and the "surfboard"/wave is temporary on rez so it only lasts for 20 seconds (which should be long enough to cross the sim as long as it is set to move quickly enough).

So I've created 2 waves - Colleen's cutesy fluffy, and the gigantic 30m high, 100m across Tsunami Wave. Neither wave is terribly easy to surf, but then why should they be!?
