First LSD (Luscious Surf Design) surfboard created!

6/22/2010: The first LSD (Luscious Surf Design) surfboard is created!!

A new era is about to begin as within just a few hours, I wrote my first surfboard script. The difference is going to be how I present it. First and foremost I'm going to make this thing BAD ASS!!!! More tricks and more customization and all in real-time. The KICKER is going to be that I'm going to make the CODE VISIBLE FOR ALL TO SEE!!!! That's right! I'm going to make the scripts Copy/Trans. BWUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! So anyone who wants to can open the script, read it, COPY IT, PASTE it into their own script, and do WHATEVER THE **** THEY WANT to it and SURF ON IT! And of course it will be FREE!!!! (Since copy/trans would mean as soon as one person had it, they could just copy/paste it into a notecard or email it and give it to somebody else.)

What does this mean? This means things like gesture designers writing poses for boards, new impossible tricks being developed, amazing designs of course, and abilities that surfboards have never seen before! In other words a surfboard without limits, welcome to the world of LSD UNLIMITED!

They've been lying to you surfers!!! You know who I'm talking about! Linden labs has had bugs, but the big problems were resolved quite awhile ago. The problem script functions now no longer need to be implemented discreetly and instead there is a juicy API (Application Programming Interface) which allows you to create surfboard like objects and let Linden Labs do the debugging. They have pulled the wool over your eyes surfers, and we're not going to take it anymore!! A revolution is brewing and its name is OPEN SOURCE SL SURFING!!

Everyone I've ever talked to says "we're not in this for the money"... So tell me you aren't lying, and release your code! If not, get ready to be attacked by a deluge of developers writing amazing mods and creating the next generation of surreal surfing!

  1. So it turns out the existing SL surfboard makers don't know how to make a good surfboard script either! Their boards lag and there's no reason for it! They didn't tune them correctly! My script is finally done and it KICKS EVERY OTHER BOARD MAKERS ASS!!!! The Luscious Surf Design board is faster, smoother, and more customizable. It even has presets to make it behave like the other board manufacturers though why you'd want to do that is beyond me... hahahah You can do tricks previously not possible on other boards because of the incredible wave behavior of this board. I've also fixed the access control on the board so when you give access to group or all, they will have access to everything in the customization menu EXCEPT the access menu of course! ;)

Finally, to put the nail on top of the coffin, I've written a script that changes the textures on the top of the board so that with a notecard containing the UUIDs of textures, a single click will change the texture of the board instantaneously! Up to 72 textures can be installed into a single board! bwuahahahahaha!!! What a coup for designers! And wait until they get a hold of this FOR FREE!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! It'll be the best board hands down!

  2. Alas to avoid bad karma I have not released the script open source... It might be possible at a later time, but it might hurt the SL beaches more if I did open source it. Oh well new features still need to be added. Need to make a wipeout mode and competition mode as well as a leash particle system. Also add jump animation and feature...

  3. In retrospect, it seems I was a little over exuberant. The surfboard acted more like a jet ski, which is still sort of does (staying true to the Starship name), but a lot of improvement has been made to the board somewhat based on carefully studying other surfboard makers' surfboard characteristics and the feedback of tons of SecondLife and RL surfers. The other board makers actually make quite good product, it's just that there hasn't been a lot of new material coming out from them recently. It would be nice to see what other things they have come up with in the last few years, because I know there is still a lot more that can be done!
We're just scratching the surface of what's possible. We should be able to at least get something like Kelly Slater's Pro Surfing (tm) type performance with a few more tweaks ;)
